ExpandCart, an ecommerce enabler, raises $2.5 million Series A round.

ExpandCart, a Cairo based startup, has raised a $2.5 million Series A funding led by Sawari Ventures, Agility ventures, Graphene Ventures and two angel investors.

ExpandCart is an ecommerce platform that helps merchants easily design online stores and make it available for mobile and tablet users. The platform has over 20 payment and shipping methods supported in the middle east, and is multilingual with native Arabic support. The platforms pricing structure begin at $19/month which is the standard plan to the ultimate plan which is $99/month.

Founded in 2013 by Sameh Nabil and Amr Shawqy, they boast of having over 20,000 merchants in over 40 countries.

ExpandCart is planning to use the raised funds to take the startup to the next level by bridging the gap between suppliers and merchants as well as develop digital commerce solutions targeting both online and offline retailers.

“We believe that technology can empower commerce and with that vision in mind, we have built solutions to help merchants expand their sales online and offline. This new round of funding will help us work on our ambitious roadmap of new innovative ecommerce solutions that we will be rolling out to supercharge ecommerce growth in the Middle East.”
