Facebook launches the Johannesburg community city guide “The JoziPlug Community City Guide”

Facebook has launched the first African city community guide “The JoziPlug Community Guide” for Johannesburg. The guide was created to showcase the beauty of the city, highlight community leaders using the Facebook platform to connect and support local businesses through empowering communities and bringing people together to share knowledge about local hidden attractions found in Johannesburg.

Johannesburg, also known as Joburg, Jozi, eGoli was established in 1886 and is one of South Africa’s largest cities with a population of over 5 million. The city is a fantastic destination for travelers as it offers a rich history, diverse cultures, incredible food, and amazing nightlife.

The community city guide allows the Facebook groups and members of the Jozi community to “plug” (connect) you to the city’s local hidden attractions and businesses.

“It gives me great pleasure that we are collaborating with Facebook to encourage South Africans to give back to the tourism industry and small businesses during this challenging time. We are excited about this collaboration and believe it will grow over the years to showcase more of our South African cities and our vibrant offerings for both local and international tourists. Through technology and digital marketing on the City Guide platform and others within the Facebook ecosystem, we can imprint a memorable experience for all to enjoy. Our urban spaces remain appealing destinations for various travellers, with abundant, diverse, world-class and safe attractions supported by transport and communications infrastructure that beats the best in the world” said Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane Minister of Tourism.
